“The Constant”
This autobiographical work is a home studio recording of a very personal story, weaved together with live music from Under the Sheets; a show I co-created and performed with Pat McMaster (left) at the 2019 St-Ambroise Montreal Fringe Festival.
In the original show, I told my story first, and then followed it with an improvised “translation” of the story on electrified-acoustic violin, grounded in a loosely-planned structure. My music was different in each of the 6 performances.
This hybrid reflects a more recent project, You’re Not Alone: Music and Stories about Solitude, in which I perform stories and music simultaneously using the magic of Ableton Live. The project was generously funded by the Canada Council for the Arts.
Content Warning: Themes of depression and suicidal ideation
